system memory

Hi I bought a Dell inspiron e1505 with windows XP at a flea market it came with just the ac adapter no recovery cds of any kind. When I got home I found that it needed new memory ram cause the other ones was gone.. so I put new onws in.. Now when I turn it on the Dell bios load but then it come up and tells me that ..the amount of system memory has changed. to resolve this issue reseat memory.. well i did that and still nothing.. can anyone help

When you boot the laptop up,when it says system memory has changed,hit f12 key and select dell diagnostics.Run the memory tests(it will set memory allocation for the change) and let it reboot,it should work now.If it does not and you recieve errors one or both of the sticks are bad.

Could also of been a dodgy system you bought. Make sure you install matching pairs.
