Third Party Battery Orange Light Flashing

I bought a third party replacement battery for my dell because of the excellent free 3 year warantee involved.  The battery charges fully and then a orange battery light starts flashing.  It's a brand new battery and it has happened 3 times to me.  I've returned the battery 2 times and this is my 3rd battery with the same results.  What am I doing wrong?  I'm not going to buy a new expensive dell battery when this one is working fine and the warantee on this one is so great.  Is there any other thing else I can do or something I'm doing wrong with this battery?  I've followed the instructions that were given with the battery as far as charging it and other instructions including updating the bios and have called the company several times..  with no results except to exchange the battery.  Any ideas?

You are not alone with this problem.

Normally, a flashing orange light indicates the battery is almost completely discharged.

If you remove the charger, does the light stop flashing? How long will the battery operate the laptop?

"Compatible Batteries" may only be compatible in shape and voltage. Genuine batteries contain a Smart Circuit which controls the charging and monitors the battery. If the battery does not contain this circuity, it can not communicate with the computer and will cause problems. It amy damage the battery by overcharging.

if i remove the charger the light stops flashing.  the battery seems to operate normally when the power adapter is unplugged.  it usually lasts from 1 hour up to 2 hours depending on usage.. which seems normal.  if i plug the adapter back in it charges to 100%.. so the computer says.. and after a few minutes, after a full charge, the light starts to flash again.  i purchased this battery from laptop battery depot and they have a 3 year defective battery warantee.  ive already returned the battery once for a new one.  i have conditioned the battery as the company has instructed and have upgraded my bios as also instructed which did not help.  thankyou for your time

My biggest worry is that the battery may be overcharged when the orange blinking light starts after charging.

Perhaps you should download several (free) programs that will report battery conditions. One is Rightmark CPU Clock Utility, which is a power monitoring and programming tool which also shows battery info. Another is Notebook Battery Info. Keep an eye on the battery charge levels. The 3-year warranty is great if they will replace the battery if it loses maximum charge level.

it seems to be charging normally.. im having a hard time understanding the programs.. there is one part that says the battery's potential kwh?  and it is under that full amount.. does that seem normal?  so maybe its not charging fully?  but it seems to be ok tho.. well maybe ill try to get my money back somehow and get myself a genuine dell battery or ill just fork out the money and get me one and use this one as a back up... maybe when i get the new one from dell if there is no longer an error light ill then know that its the other battery that is to blame.. thanks for the info!
