Typing a forward slash adds space automatically
Typing on my laptop (without a keyboard attached)
If I type a forward slash, a blank space is automatically added. Like if I type a url such as http:/ / anysite.com then it puts the space as you can see. I have to go back and delete the space to take it out of there. It happens when I try to type a date as well like 07/ 08/ 2008. Again, you can see that a space is automatically entered.
At first I thought maybe it was Microsoft Office doing this but then I see that it happens if I use notepad or even going to the command prompt in Windows.
I've tried using a regular USB keyboard attached to my laptop and it works fine that way. For the life of me, I can't figure out what is wrong.
I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 (almost 4 years old now) running Windows XP Service Pack 2. I have a 100gb HD, 1gb of Ram.
Hopefully someone can help. I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue that I need to use my warranty on or if it is some simple setting somewhere. It just is very odd and frustrating when I type.
Thanks
Don
