unknown devices after windows 7 reinstall
My Alienware 14 crashed and the only thing that worked was a complete reinstall of Windows 7 from the Alienware CD. After installation, I still had 3 unknown devices in Device Manager. I cannot seem to find the right drivers for these:
Network Controller
Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller
Unknown Device
I am hoping someone smarter than me has seen these errors and has a fix.

OK, I installed the Intel 7260 driver and that fixed it. Somehow I mixed up the spec sheets for two Alienware laptops that I ordered about a year apart. That was why it seemed so difficult because I was downloading and trying to install the wrong drivers. Works fine now. thanks to all those who helped. -- vern

Hi Vern,
The system needs Chipset and wireless card drivers. Please punch in the system service tag or express service code from the link below. Then Click on System configuration tab and then Click on Components and find the wireless card of the system and then download the wireless card driver found under Network section and Chipset driver from chipset section.

Also, I would like to know the ‘Hardware ID’ of the unknown device. Please follow the steps mentioned below to find the ‘Hardware ID’ in device manager.

OK, the details are:
Unknown Device ACPI\CPL0002 unknown device
USB Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEVE_8C31SUBSYS_05A91020Rev5
I have installed the chipset drivers and they seemed to install just fine.
