unlocking an icon

Hi i just got my inspiron 1545 and in the icon box the are to icons that i can not get rid of or unlock. it is the lockstatus tray application. one is a lock symbol with a number and the other is a lock symbol with a down arrow. how do i disable them. it is annoying. please help..thanks
