Unsupported System when trying to flash bios

Question

Tried to run bios flash and when I do I get the following error:

NOTICE!!!

Running on an unsupported system

Tried to upgrade my Inspiron 1100 from Revision A06 to A26. The Current system shows Phoenix technologies as the vendor.

iirc you have to flash with A22 first then updated to A26!

If you have to FLASh the older BIOS updates first, then can you tell me where to find them? When I go to the downloads for the 5150 BIOS is only gives the latest one A29. When I try to install that I get the 'Unsupported Version' message. Thanks

You find them in the same place you found the newest one. On that page you will see 'Previous Versions'.

Thanks a lot Ed. I got all the all the BIOS updated now and my system seems to be running much better. I hope this is the cure for this over -heating problem.

If I were you, I wouldn't update th BIOS. Nothing but problems since updating. Battery issues, indicator light issues, motherboard issues - don't update it. What a mess.

WOW! I guess I am very lucky as I have not had any trouble since updating ths bios, as well as all the other programs that came with the system. Yet, I believe the fan control & Speedswitch programs have helped a lot, and the raising of my computer a cm. or so off the table top too. I have not suffered one random shutdown since doing these things. I have ordered a cooling pad for the computer to sit on and am waiting for it.

Dear all, As instructed I tried first to flash with A22 on my INSPIRON 5100 to upgrade BIOS, but I couldn't.... 'Running on unsupported system'... What else I can do? Thanks, Renis

Are you sure you have the right BIOS for your notebook?

Find out which BIOS you are using now, then first flash the next BIOS update, then A22, then A29. I had to go through the same procedure. You cannot jumpo over any earlier BIOS updates.
