UPDATE YOUR DRIVERS DELL (Windows 7 - Nvidia)

You DO NOT need to wait for Dell. The latest Nvidia drivers from Nvidia will run fine in all Dells

Thanks for your replies, so I guess it's a problem with hybrid graphics specifically x.x arghhhhhhh!! Ok, I'm not so big with all this technical stuff but I get it now... I saw updates on Nvidia and no updates here and got a bit green eyed :P ...I didn't even ask for hybrid when I bought... I specified "one with Nvidia graphics" on the phone.. Oh well :]

Yes the OEM makes the customized version for there systems.The Geforce M and Geforce Go series drivers from nVidia DO install,my E1705 has been running the updated drivers from nvidia since they started putting out the laptop versions,and my XPS 1730 is running the desktop driver.The problem is,nVidias laptop drivers WILL NOT,and HAVE NOT been customized to run on hybrid graphics yet,that is the problem.Yes you can lose the functions of the OEM system by installing them,mine have not,it is just a possibility that your system could/would lose them.

If/when nVidia starts updating those drivers for hybrid graphics (which i have heard nothing about that happening yet),Dell still very rarely updates a graphic driver for any system unless there is a serious problem.And it is not Dell's fault the drivers are not updated in the first place,the driver packages are put together by nVidia,ATI,and the packages are sent to the OEM for customization,Dell DOES NOT make up the packages.

Nvidia driver downloads straight from the site do not work (maybe just for this graphics card series, I don't know). I tried regardless of the fact that the Nvidia site specifically asks me to wait for my manufacturers drivers (i.e from Dell).. and yet, it continues to use the 189.99 version, therefore, not solving my problem. I've seen many complaints from people with the same issue.. http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3519/p/19372715/19852767.aspx#19852767 another thread as an example....and they should keep the drivers updated here..

So, please don't assume it's the same for all Dells.. We shouldn't have to wait months for the latest release compatible with our model.. leaving us behind others. However, I do appreciate the reply all the same.. So here is a direct reply for your direct solution :P

One of these days nVidia will wake up and realize the newer systems have hybrid graphics,we will see?
