CPU upgrades on notebooks very rarely make economic sense. This is a 2007 system - about six years old. Put whatever you'd spend on an upgrade away toward a replacement system.
thank you, I have a new laptop, I am going to school to be a compute tech, So I bought an older system so I could learn about upgrades, how to work on computers...etc.I did not want to ruin my new laptop so I thought I could buy an older one(which I did for about $100.00)slap some upgrades on it, If I ruin it, no big loss.so I thought I could upgrade the old one for about 200 to 300 bucks.So I am doing some research on what would work
did some more research.I want to thank everyone who answered my post, I already have a T9300 processor installed on my laptop, So I am going to leave the processor alone(good enough) I bought a new keyboard,Western Digital 500 GB SATA 3 GB/s Scorpio Blue Mobile Hard Drive and 4gb's of memory, all for only $125.00. and all from Dell.so with the price of the computer, I only have $225!!!,Thnks again for all who helped me.

It's socket P Merom (it will not take the later Socket P CPUs (Penryn, Montevina, etc.) that are a smaller die size and user a faster bus speed).

dude, just go to deals2buy.com and look up discount codes. You can BUY a NEW laptop for $350 or desktop for $250. Doesn't make sense to "upgrade".
