Sknarten:

Apparently when you upgraded your drivers you forgot to select your proper resolution settings. Doing that will solve your problem.

Sorry for off-topic question Wolfenstein - just spotted your 32MB nVidia GeForce2 Go (Overclocked at 175/400) (Standard nVidia 40.41)...

What did you use to o/clock it? I get just 2240 3DMarks with my 1GHz I8000 and want more  (I do have a spare board in case of ... ahem... unforeseen things...)

Thank you.

-lynx- :

To overclock, download Coolbits. Coolbits is a registry entry that enables the tuning of clock speeds on nVidia cards. After Coolbits is installed, restart your computer, and go to the nVidia tabs of Display Properties, where you can find settings to adjust clock speeds. And if you do overclock, make sure you have 18KFangui installed to prevent your laptop from exploding.

Hi Wolfenstein...

Not that I'm going to, but what do I change my resolution settings to if I would update my graphics driver?  I found the file, but there are so many tabs and settings, I don't have a clue what settings go with what updates.  When I installed the update, everything was affected on and off line.  I would just like to know for future reference.

I have had this same problem. My computer locked-up while playing Microsofts Spider solitaire and while playing chess on-line.

I followed Microsofts USELESS recommendation of upgrading the NVIDIA driver (40.72_winxp) and still have had the same trouble. How many time will I get kicked into Microsofts web-site for a fix that does NOT work?!

Can anyone offer some help here? What is the remedy for this trouble?

HELP!

There is no problem when you downloaded and installed those drivers.  When you reboot, and your screen is bigger, you can change the resolution to the size you had for your old drivers or depending on the Resolution your screen goes onto.

Hi Schizophonic...

I'll ask you the same question I asked Wolfenstein.  How do I know what to set the resolution to?  Do I check all the settings before I install drivers, then after I reboot, check the settings again and see if they have changed?  If they have, do I just reset them to their previous settings?  Are there any certain settings I need to pay attention to more than others?  I looked at the file and there are a lot of tabs to click on to and a lot of different settings.  I would appreciate more info.

Thanks!

Based on your system description, right click on the desktop , select properties, then settings.  Next slid the resolution slider to 1024x768 to match your XGA display.  You should also set your color depth to 16M or 32M colors (True color).  Click on apply and you're properly set.

Sknarten:

Since you have a XGA, set your resolution to 1024x768.

Reply - what's your 3DMark2001SE score on your laptop? I have almost identical setup (mine is I8000 though) and after seeing Wolfenstein's sig (thanks again ) and getting my GF2Go cranked up to 175/400 I'm getting 2530 3DMarks. Just wondering if it's worth the hassle to go through with upgrade to GF4...

Thank you
