Using Recovery DVD's
I have a Latitude 6430 for which I burned the recovery DVD's immediately on delivery.
I now wish to use those recovery DVD's to initialize the laptop with a new SSD to out of the box condition.
I contacted Dell technical support (and I'm a Premier customer) and the person said I had to pay for software warranty on my six-month old computer to get instructions on using these DVD's.
Can someone point me at documentation or tell me how to use the three DVD's to initialize the computer with a new disk? I have
- Recovery Disk 1
- Recovery Disk 2
- Recovery OS
In what order should the disks be run, OS -> Recovery or Recovery -> OS?
The Recovery OS disk looks like a typical Win 7 installation disk.
The Recovery Disk 1 does NOT appear to be bootable although there is a bootmgr file in its root?
Any assistance gratefully appreciated.

First things first: if the new SSD is smaller than the original hard drive, the recovery image WILL NOT restore.

That's a help.
I found that for whatever reason the first time I tried to boot from Recovery Disk 1 it failed to boot, but the second (and subsequent) times it did.
The SSD is a 512GB, same as the original HD in the laptop.
The recovery tries to but doesn't launch automatically, but I then was presented with a screen where the last option was Dell Backup And Recovery Manager. Choosing that did find the image and reinitialized the laptop to "out of box" state.
My longer story is that the SSD is a warranty replacement for the original SSD I've been using for a year and a half, and I have a 750GB hybrid drive configured and working in the machine so I'm just working my way through reinstalling the SSD when I have time. If I have to make two or three attempts to end up in the right place (because there's no instructions) then that will be OK.
