Very Low Battery

Question

Hi,
My wife's 1535 Laptop is down to one percent battery power and it is not charging. We have ordered a new battery from Amazon. She has shut the laptop down because she is afraid it will not boot if the battery goes dead.

Can she continue to use the laptop plugged into the AC source with the low battery?

Thanks for the reply ejn63,

We connected the laptop to a different A/C source and ran the F2 test. The battery showed 1% but it was preforming normally and charging. After about an hour at the new connection it was fully charged. Now, of course, I wonder about the original A/C source. I will check it out.

There's no harm in doing that, but be sure the system recognizes the AC adapter (F2 at powerup to check). If it doesn't, that's the cause of the no-charge and a new battery won't fix the problem - it means you have a bad adapter, power jack or mainboard.
