video and internet problems after format

Question

I formatted my hard drive on my Inspirion 1100 and reinstalled my software. However, I am having problems with the video and Internet. The display is only visible at 640 and with 16 colors. I tried to update the driver but it didn’t work.

The Internet problem is with the Ethernet control which is not updating. When you go into the device manger, they are both listed under “other” with a yellow question mark. I have two disk, the window XP reinstall and a disk for drivers & utilities but am unable to locate either driver. Please help

I formatted my computer about a month ago and had the exact same problem. You can look for the driver for the monitor at Intel's website. If your notebook has the same video controller as mine, then look for 845GL.

I'm still having problem figuring out where to get the ethernet driver, since the device manager can't identify what it is. Let me know if you have a better luck on that.

I downloaded the etheret driver from the Dell web site.  I enter my service number and all of the drivers for my computer popped up.  There were a few of choices, but I got it on second try. good luck
