VIDEO DRIVER PRBLEM
I have a Dell Inspiron 17 R 5720.The laptop makes some problems from time to time. For example if i let the laptop open and i don`t use it for a long time, the laptop will get in the sleep mode and sometimes when i reopen the laptop from his sleep mode , i get a grey screen with some grey lines. Also sometimes when i open the laptop, the image is directly grey with lines and even if i try refresh it, it doesen`t recover, i have to restart laptop. I will attach some pictures with this image problem i get , to understand better. This problem is not happening everyday!
http://postimg.org/image/rggqff10z/ this happened in 13 october (in both images i had to restart the laptop so this error or i don`t know how to call it , to be fixed)
http://postimg.org/image/rnijrdmex/ this happened 5 september
Today 30 october when i opened the laptop again my screen was grey and with lines but in less then 1 minute, the screen recovered alone without any refresh or any restart.
I made some online test for the video hardware on dell.com but it passes all the tests.

In my experience with laptops this might be the actual LCD screen or the display cable. Plug in your monitor to a external monitor to see if the issue is duplicated on the external monitor if it is duplicated then it would be the video card or the drivers. Highly doubt its drivers so i would say the Video card is bad. My laptop started like this and only got worse with time. If you say it hapens after using the computer it might also be heat related. To test the Display cable you can try moving the monitor back and forth to see if the issue is affected sometimes the cable just isnt seated properly. Repairs would require a lot of work but Dells are usually very easy to work with.

Hi Alle90,
As JackHammer1198 said it might be an issue with the lcd or the drivers. Please follow the steps what he has mentioned. Also try running diagnostics to make sure the hardware is fine.
To run diagnostics
http://bit.ly/11rpNTs
Run LCD BIST ( Built In Self-Test )
To run the Built-In Self-Test perform the following:
Also try to update the video drivers. Punch in the service tag and download the drivers. Reply with your findings.

the tests were all passed and ok , anyway i decided to get the laptop to the company from where i bought it because it has guarantee still. So i`ll let them send it to Dell or fix it in the guarantee.

Ok.So i bought the laptop from Acip Comuters , Bistita-Nasaud .I took my laptop yesterday to Acip Computers and i let the laptop until now at them. They runned several tests and checked the windows and updates everything and they kept my laptop open all day but they told me they didn`t found any problem with the video cards or the software ....so they told me that next time when my laptop makes grey image to call to dell and tell my problem, because they sayed that if they don`t see the screen grey by themself ,then they can`t send my laptop to dell for guarantee :emotion-20: The problem is that this grey screen doesent appear every day and i don`t know when it will appear next . I don`t know how my problem will be solved. All i know is that i got this screen problem 4 times allready . Once when i was looking for smth on internet, second when laptop went standby mode and at reopen it was grey and even with refresh it didn`t recover and another 2 times when i started the windows it showed me the desktop grey for like 3-4 seconds! In 3-4econds i don`t have time to put my screen image to another pc screen and see if on the other screen image will be ok . :( so i really don`t know what to do more.... and who exactly can help me .
