Video Driver Recommended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I was wondering where or how to go about giving Dell the BOOT to get up off their buttocks to update the latest driver for the ATI Mobility Radeon 9700.
Currently there is only 6.14.10.6467 dated since 9/19/2004
While ATI has drivers up to 6476!!!!!! And when I contacted ATI about the drivers, they told me I need to get the drivers from DELL!!!!!!
So... where and when is DELL going to get the latest DRIVERS for this system????????
Thanks!
PS: If someone knows a work around where I can try the ones from ATI instead and be ok, GREAT! please post.

These steps will help assure a good install.
1.Go to omega drivers and download and save to your desktop.
2.Then go to driverheaven.net/ on the left side click on driver cleaner it will bring you to the driver cleaner tool page download and save to your desktop.
3.Open controll panel then select add and remove programs you will have 3 different ati related programs at the top remove all three.
4.Run the driver cleaner 2 times it is quick and simple just follow the directions.
5.Install the omega drivers that you saved to your desktop.
Happy Gaming you should se a big improvement and a boost in fps.

The Video and larger hard drive were basically the only options I left off from having this system fully blown out to its max. ok and I did not go for the DVD burner. instead I got the CD-RW
I play EQ1 on it and it works great.
Not sure how EQ2 would work on it, but I seem to be slightly above the bottom to mid level in requirements.
All in all I am hapy with this laptop due to its resolution. I love the high res!
High res was always the last deciding factor that kept me from ever buying a laptop.
Thanks again... now just wondering if I do this update before or after my long 5 day road trip. Going to be using this laptop with a Garmin USB GPS.

I previously owned a 9100 with the 9700 video card before i got my XPS with the 9800. WOW what a difference i must say you should make the 9800 upgrade when you can you will be glad you did the cost for the 9800 video card hurts but it is worth it . Good luck & happy gaming.
