Vostro 1500 dark screen issue
PLEASE HELP!!!
I am having a problem with my vostro 1500. One day I turned it on and after a few seconds of it being on the screen dimmed to where I could see almost nothing. I messed around with it and here are my observations:
The onboard and downloaded Dell diagnostics utility found nothing.
The video out works fine when connected to an external monitor.
I have no issues when only using the battery.
When I use any combination of the AC adapter with the battery it gives the dim screen.
I have read several different posts on this site and have seen several things that state it may be the inverter or screen. I bought a new screen and inverter and it did not fix the issue. Any ideas about this? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I was just messing around with it some more and the LCD brightness test passed. It did the brightness test and the screen came up to the correct brightness then just went dim again.

If you've already replaced the screen and inverter, try a new Dell adapter. If that does nothing, then that leaves the mainboard as the source of the problem.

Ok. Thank you for your input. I was hopping that it was something I was not thinking of and not the motherboard.

I have finally had time and money to replace the motherboard, but I am still having the same problem. Is it possible that the video card is the source of the problem?
