Vostro 3450 Display issues

When laptop is started and the desktop is first displayed, the screen does not display correctly

It will stay like this for a few seconds or as long as 5-10 minutes, but then display returns to normal.

It only occurs once the desktop is displayed, does not happen on the login, welcome screen, Windows Start up screen or the Bios settings screen.

Tried a screen print while like this, but the screen dump was normal when pasted into ms paint.

I have installed the latest graphics drivers from Intel, but has not helped.

Device Manager is nto showing any errors/unknown devices.

Using Windows 7 64-bit.

Have run the My Dell PC Checkup, but only fault found was an RTC accuracy Test.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi cookm75,

Welcome to Dell community,

Please try the following steps mentioned below:

1. update the latest BIOS from our Dell support site. Uninstall both the video drivers and restart PC, download and install Intel drivers first and then the discrete driver i.e nvidia or AMD.

2. You can also create a new ADMIN user profile and login to check if the issue persists.

3. Try connecting an external monitor, restart PC and login to check if you still get the screen.

4. Last step you can try running an LCD bist scan by pressing "D + power button" and check if the screen shows the correct results.

Try these steps and let me know the results.
