Webcam Central on Studio 17
I have searched several forums dating back quite a bit and still have not found a solution to the Webcam Central problem.
When I open up Webcam Central the video does not come up. There is a message at the top stating "Close other video streaming application to start video." There isn't any other video applications running. I have opened the video chat to see if this would help resolve the problem and it does not. I have video when I go through the settings of the video chat though. When I click on settings, then camera, I tried to select the camera for "Integrated Webcam" and I received an error message that stated, "Error Initializing Camera. Perhaps it isn't plugged in or might not be supported." Of course it is internally "plugged" in since it is built into the laptop.
All drivers are current. Everything has been removed and reinstalled, which is crazy since the computer is only a month old. I am operating on Windows Vista 64-bit...is there still a compatability issue with the Webcam and the 64-bit OS?
Somebody please help...preferably Dell since this is their problem.
Thank you kindly!!

I have the exact same problem on the studio xps 13, anyone have a solution?
EDIT: I think I found a solution, if you have FastAccess, disable the entire program and the camera light should automatically turn on and be ready to take video.

I simply uninstalled FastAccess, didn't use it anyways. Whenever the program was running the webcam central wouldn't work b/c FastAccess was using the camera.

What OS are you all running? Also, what version of FastAccess? With a standard configuration, Dell's WebCam Central is supposed to send a message to FastAccess to automatically disable when WebCam Central is started and to re-enable when WebCam Central is stopped.
Of course you can do this manually - and still stop short of completely de-installing FastAccess - by simply moving the main FastAccess "Security Mode" slider to "Disabled". If this is not happening automatically, however, then we'll want to work to figure out what is different on your system.
