MadiMommy,

PLEASE READ AND ANSWER THE QUESTIONS THAT I ASKED, BELOW.

Did you recently install/reinstall the operating system? If yes, did you install the drivers in the correct order? How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Try reading...

Troubleshooting the Dell Webcam and Dell Webcam Central Software

Also try running the Webcam Diagnostics

Did the webcam show in the symptom tree?

Any error messages?

Is the computer under warranty?

Hi,

Please check if the webcam is detected in Dell Webcam Central or not. To access Dell Webcam Central; go to Start>> All Programs>> Dell Webcam>> Dell Webcam Central.

Once the Webcam Central window appears, check if your image is visible in the webcam software. If not, go to Start>> Control Panel>> click 'View by, Small Icons'>> select 'Device Manager'>> click 'Yes' to the User account control if prompted.

Go to Imaging devices(click the arrow) and check if 'Integrated Webcam' is listed. If the driver is not listed, go to 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers' in device manager>> expand the list>> right-click 'USB Root Hub' and Uninstall it. Follow the same procedure for all the USB Root Hubs listed.
Note: Please disconnect any USB flash drive, printer, SD card, DVD or any other device prior to this step.

Once done, reboot PC and launch the Dell Webcam Central again.

If the issue persists only in Skype and not Dell Webcam Central, follow these steps

  • Sign in to Skype
  • In the menu bar, click Tools > Options..
  • Under 'General', select 'Video Settings'. If you have a webcam connected, you should see a live picture from it. If you can see the live picture, your webcam is working correctly.
  • From the drop-down list on 'Select Webcam', try to select another device (if available) and see if that helps.
Hope this helps.
