WEBCAM! on XPS 14

Where can i find the webcam? It works quite fine with skype but I will like to be able to use for it for other purposes. In previous laptops, there was a webcam link in programs. Searching online, I see suggestions of going to check the drivers etc. The driver is installed and as i mentioned ...it works with skype..nothing should be this hard really.

Hi flemerald,

Please share the exact operating system installed.

If you have windows 7, the camera can be configured by using the Dell Webcam central software.

Here are the steps:

  • Click start
  • Click on Integrated webcam.
  • Click on webcam central. The software would come up and you can check the camera functionality there.

Windows 8 operating system has 'Camera' app. You can access the 'Camera' app from the start screen. In case you are not able to see the 'Camera' app on the start screen, you can download it from 'Windows Store Apps'.

  • From the Start screen, click the 'Camera' tile to open the app
  • If the app asks to use your camera and microphone, choose 'Allow'
  • Adjust the settings, if desired
  • To snap a photo, click anywhere on the screen
  • The camera app saves all your snapped photos and videos in a folder called 'Camera Roll' in your Pictures library.

You may refer to the video http://dell.to/16Nfii6 on how to use the camera app on windows 8.

If you do not want to use the Webcam app, you can download and install the Dell Webcam Central software. Here is the link http://bit.ly/TjXOwa

Hope this helps!
