Which one is faster?

Plan on ordering either Inspiron 5150 or 8600.

Am wondering why an 8600, say, PentiumM 1.8MHz is roughly same price or more expensive than a 5150,  Pentium 4 3.2 MHz.

I would naturally want the faster computer. I realize some peripherals would account for some of the difference; but I thought that speed was a major factor in cost.

When I retire a little later, I would probably start concentrating more on gaming and multimedia. The 128 Gforce video is, I think, supplied on the 8600 but would the 8600, 1.8 run a lot slower than the 5150, 3.2?

The Pentium M (Centrino) is newer technology. It runs much more cooler, longer battery life, and has wireless capabilities.

With the 5150, you just have the Pentium 4m chip which runs much more hotter since it is just like the desktop's cpu. Uptime on battery is less and it runs much hotter.

The Pentium M 1.8 would be equivalent to a Pentium 4 2.5-2.8 in most applications wile using much less power.
The geforce 5200 in the 5150 isn't very powerful, if you want to play games and you can afford it, choose the i8600.

The only problem with ordering a notebook with a PentiumM 1.8 is that they haven't been released yet.
