Which one...Mobile Dual-Core or Mobile Quad-Core Processor?
What should my processor choice be, Mobile Dual-Core or Mobile Quad-Core?
There are Mobile Dual-Core processors offerings available now but there are not any Mobile Quad-Core processors available at this time.
I can order the Dell XPS m1730 with Mobile Dual-Core processor X9000.
Or, should I wait until Dell offers a Mobile Quad-Core processor?
The rumors say that Intel will make available a Mobile Quad-Core processor QX9300 in Q3 2008.
I could not even guess when or if Dell would offer a Mobile Quad-Core processor.
Please, let me hear all input on this. I would appreciate all pros and cons.
Thanks!

You could be waiting a while before a mobile quad can be got.....
If you're getting an XPS M1730, I'm guessing your main usage of the laptop is going to be gaming, right?
Dual core processors perform just as good if not better for gaming. The only reason to have a Quad Core is for Video editing or heavy multitasking.
Personally until I see more application support for Quad core processors I'm going to stick with dual cores.

You could wait for new technology forever and not upgrade. :smileywink:
Personally I would go with a dual core for the time being. A lot of applications don't even benefit from dual core processors let alone quad cores. Not even the Windows kernel benefits from multiple cores.

Thanks for your input. Much appreciation.
Here, FSX mostly for Flight Sims but a few others too for gaming and also video rendering w/Vegas 8.
I know a Mobile Quad would do great with Vegas 8 but there is no Mobile Quad out there.
But, I do not have any idea when Dell would have an offering for a Mobile Quad when it becomes available in Q3.
If both available now, I would choose the Mobile Quad. I seemed to be always waiting for the expected and that's tiresome.
Mobile Dual-Core X9000 2.8GHz 6MB L2 Cache TDP 44W
Mobile Quad-Core QX9300 2.5GHz 12MB L2 Cache TDP 45W
It seems both will be on different mobile platforms and therefore not interchangeable.
As of now, it is a X9000 ready for service (Dell XPS m1730) and a unknown length of time of waiting for the QX9300.
A bird in-hand is worth more than two in the bush?
I am on the fence!
