Why do I keep finding Dell computers in the trash?
I sell a lot on ebay and use clean boxes from a few dumpsters. I'm a tinkerer and can't resist anything electronic.
First it was a 2011 Optiplex 380 desktop with 4gb ram and and 250gb drive. Reformatted and running windows 10 very well. There was one problem early on that was fixed by re-seating the ram.
Next - an Inspiron 1318 laptop with what looked like a stomped upon display. I didn't try to fix it, but kept the drive and put it in a case for a backup drive. I sold the rest in parts and was told it all worked, including the motherboard.
Then the 2007 XPS M1210 laptop. I can see the trashing of this one. This had some kind of a problem that after many failed tries to fix, I baked the motherboard and it is running well.
Lastly, a 2009 Optiplex 380 tower with 3gb ram and 80gb drive. I have only reformatted and installed a fresh OS and can see no problems.
This has all been in the last few months. I just don't see why anyone would simply toss a piece of useful equipment. Plus, with a couple of them, they are lucky I have no interest of what's on their hard drive.
