Question

Good Day. I have an Inspiron notebook 5100.  Is it possible to modify or purchase a plug in for the WI-FI capability.  It has a DVD player, no 3 1/2 drive.   thank you Mausman

Yes I believe that model has space for a mini PCI card which can accommodate a wireless card.
if you do not want to meddle with the internals then you can buy yourself a PCMCIA wireless card which simply slides into the the PCMCIA slot at the side of the laptop.

I suggest you stick with the Dell internal mini PCI cards.

I agree with Bacillus - the Dell 1350 card does a good job in my 5150 and in fact beats the performance of the Intel wirless card in my IBM R51
