Win 8 Product Key
Hey everybody,
purchased a Dell Laptop 2 months ago and want to upgrade Win 8 to 8.1 and it asks for the Windows Product Key.
Does anyone know where I can find it? There is not sticker on the Laptop and there was no key with the paper work.
Do I even get a Win Key with Dell?

if you click on the windows store tile, and your system is up to date, it should prompt you to upgrade for free to 8.1

So, that means there is only a Win 8.1 Pro Version? If there is, it makes sense that it asks for a Key, because I don't have Win 8 Pro. Too bad. I want the Start Button back.

If you update from within Windows (using the Windows Store) from 8 to 8.1 (non-Pro) it should not ask for a key. If you obtain a copy elsewhere, you will need to provide a key.

The product key is embedded into a chip on the mainboard. You don't need a product key (unless you're trying to upgrade from 8 to 8.1 Pro, where you'll need to buy an upgrade key).

There we go, it's downloading it. Was going through the Microsoft Website and not the Windows Store. Thanks for the help.
