Windows 8 hangs (freeze)

I suggest that you run diagnostics on the system to isolate the issue. The following steps will help you in running the diagnostics:

Shut the system down, hold down the 'Fn' key and start the system. This will initiate the diagnostics and checks for all the hardware components on the system. Please wait till the tests are complete and reply back to the post (please make a note of any errors during the test). This will help us identify the issue and provide a faster resolution.

Dear Harish R,

I have this same  problem with my dell inspiron n5110 while using windows 8, screen gets freezed.  I have already ran PC diagnostics and also updated bios for win8 but still its having that freezing again.

I noticed that this happen often while my laptop is being on plugged in, charging.

Please help me for this problem.

Dear haris and others I have same problem windows 8 enterprise evaluation is running like charm but when i plug my charger it hanged after 5 sec and i have to reset hard as no choice left i have updated all the drivers

I have the same problem and its not related to any hardware. It is not more than a bios issue.

Try going in to power options of windows 8 in the control panel and then run advanced power settings

then set all settings to "never" or "maximum performance"

and disable hybernation to do so follow these steps

To Enable or Disable Hibernate in a Elevated Command Prompt

1. To Enable Hibernate

NOTE: This step will restore the hiberfil.sys file, and the Allow hybrid sleep and Hibernate after Power Options under Sleep.

A) Open a Elevated Command Prompt.

B) In the elevated command prompt, type powercfg -h on and press Enter.

C) Close the elevated command prompt.

D) If you would also like to have hibernate turned on, then you will also need do to step 2 in OPTION FOUR below.

2. To Disable Hibernate

NOTE: This step will disable hibernation, delete the hiberfil.sys file, and remove the Allow hybrid sleep and Hibernate after Power Options under Sleep.

1. Open a Elevated Command Prompt.

2. In the elevated command prompt, type powercfg -h off and press Enter.

3. Close the elevated command prompt.

i have dell inspiron 5110 and i have same issue

when i plug in win 8 hangs in few seconds, if i dont charge my laptop, every thing is ok!!

Dell, you didn't clear the issue, it's best you just update the bios. So, we can be in  a position to run Windows 8.

Dell has no support, i m facing same issue, i think dell should update BIOS again which solve this problem

otherwise put dell devices on the side or run win 7

I already update the  bios N5110A11 for win8 whereas problem is still the same (win8 hang on power adapter).

Should I quit Dell product or win8.

Ok dell may come out with a bios update but i seriously doubt it why i say This?

look at the support of hardware vendors as soon as microsoft come out with a new os the majority of hardware vendors dump support

or discontinue support dell is one of these along with logitech creative and many other hardware vendors

and as far as windows 8 goes microsoft needs many many updates and service packs to stabilize this operating system

I too installed windows 8 the os constantly  crashed many features needed to be turned on that should have been turned on from

the initial install like hyper v and framework 3.5 many games do not work due to compatibility

and i have a real nice gamer machine that i personally put together  like evga mobo 12 gig ram core i7 2xnvidia 690

with all this huge hardware installed the os is still unstabe and i ended up reinstalling windows 7

do yoursel a favor and save yourself the head ache and reinstall win 7
