XPS 14Z - Pre-installed software
After a 5 year absence from Dell Laptops, I just purchased a 14Z. Not that I ever disliked Dell laptops, its just that I wanted to try something else. I retired an Inspiron 8000 in 2007 and bought a HP Pavilion which served me well. It's not dead, but like my 8000 at the time just tired. My overall first impressions of my 14Z is very good and it's equipped the way Ilike it. I do however have a question about all the pre-installed software and was wondering if anyone here could tell me what's worth keeping or is it just bloatware. I am wondering about:
Dell Stage, Dell DataSafe Local Back-up (this program stalled making my back-up discs), Dell DataSafe Local Back-up - Software Support, Cozi Family Calendar, Dell Digital Delivery, Roxio Starter (definitely don't like how this one works), Nero Sync Up, TrustedID, Zinio Reader 4
I'm sure each of these pieces of software has something whichs makes it worthwhile but I I don't like to keep things which will potentially slow my machine down or are buggy.
Any thoughts happily accepted.

Dell Stage is just a launch pad for software and files.. delete at will if you don't like the tiled file/program links that it shows you. DataSafe Local Back-up.. meh it crashes too much for me and I'd rather use windows backup, cozi I didn't have but I don't imagine you're losing anything that google calendars can't offer you, dell digital delivery I wouldn't keep unless you bought software digitally delivered from Dell (like some antivirus or acrobat), roxio starter.. eh I have a full creator version so I'd uninstall, but since you don't like it ditch it, sync up lets you sync supported devices just like a number of other programs you probably already own or use so I'd ditch. TrustedID you could ditch if you don't like how it works (freeware) and the Zinio Reader is just an ebook reader so really ditch if you don't like. Most of it's not bloatware in the traditional sense, just value added freeware or support software.

I got rid of every piece of software pre-installed except the free McAfee virus stuff and pre-installed video drivers.
I kept the following on probation" to see if I really want them or need them
* Accelerometer P11
* Accidental Damage Services Agreement
* Play Ready PC Runtime X86
* Roxio Creator Starter
* SyncUp
* System Requirements Lab for Intel

I ditched the McAfee immediately. It has always been buggy and a resource hog. I haven't looked at Accelerometer or SyncUP yet
