XPS M1330 with Windows XP
Hi,
I received my new M1330 yesterday. I would like to downgrade it to Windows XP (actually I would make a clean installation of it). Looking in the resources DVD I see there are missing drivers for XP (some devices are not listed in the XP drivers list). Does anyone know if I can use the Vista drivers for those devices in XP? (i.e wireless card, ethernet card...) May I need to add any SATA driver on the Windows XP installation CD?

No, you cannot use the Vista drivers. To keep the drive in AHCI mode, yes, you'll need to build a new XP install CD with the SATA drivers on it.

When i tried to by a 1330 they told me that only two of the 1730's were able to hold xp.
All the rest have hardware dependancies and will not work with xp.
I wonder now if that too was a lie.

Well i have heard there is a XP patch kit downgrade fro vista
but i have not looked into it much beocuse well if you do that you loose your suport for the OS threw dell and warranty they wont help you if you need help with the OS Or anyting it is just a crock of you know what LOL
so i have not looked into it much but also if you have a corprate acount dell will still sell systems with XP so it is avalable if you look for it

You're right about not getting tech support from Dell if you 'downgrade' to XP, but installing XP doesn't affect the warranty - which covers hardware, rather than software ;)
