XPS13 HARDWARE ISSUES?
For example if I open up word and start typing or if I open up a browser I loose the active screen that I am on...It is almost like another application takes precedence. I have to click on the screen that I want to be active continuously to keep the screen active...please help...

Hi Vman76,
I would like to know, if any other screen becomes active and if this occurs only while typing.
I recommend you to check if the issue occurs even in safe mode. To go to ‘Safe Mode’ restart the system and at the Dell logo tap the F8 key every two seconds. In the ‘Advanced Boot options’ window using arrow keys, select ‘Safe Mode with networking’ and hit enter.
I also recommend you to update the touchpad drivers by clicking on the link below:

Please reply this post for further assistance.

Hi Vman76,
New computers have added gesture features to the touchpad hardware. A few of these features are two or three finger scrolling, pinch zoom, circle zoom, rotate and swiping. These new features may be the reason for the erratic cursor movement since most are turned on by default. You can disable or modify the way the features work in the touchpad driver properties.
You may also reduce the touchpad sensitivity. Click Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers > Mouse and in the Mouse properties window navigate to Cypress Track pad. Click on ‘Click to change Cypress Track Pad Settings’. Next navigate to ‘Palm Rejection’ tab and reduce the sensitivity of the palm rest. Click Ok to save the settings.

Dear Vman76,
I've had and continue to have this same problem of application jumping on a Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook. Tried the reload trackpad drivers and decrease the sensitivity of trackpad approaches to no avail. Dell tech support has been very cordial but their suggestions have not worked for me. I am on my second XPS13 - the first one died two weeks after receipt but was doing the application jumping thing and second machine does the same application jumping thing which basically renders the laptop useless.
I've given up and switched to another brand with a touchscreen in addition to trackpad which makes using Windows 8 more fun. No trackpad issues or application jumping issues - if Sony can get it right, I would hope that Dell can eventually solve this issue. In the meantime, I wish you luck . . .
