Can't get any information on monitored servers

Hello.

I'm using SCOM 2016 to monitor couple of R620 and one R1950 servers. My servers is discovered just fine, but I don't see any extended info on memory, processor etc. When I'm looking at for example memory of some server, Availability is marked as monitored, but Configuration, Performance and other stuff is not (see screenshot 2). When I'm open up Diagram View all server components are looks like some generic stuff without any info on CPU, RAM (see screenshot 1).  Overriding rules doesn't do anything. I don't see any errors in event log for SCOM.

I have MP 7.0 installed (as far as I know it doesn't support 1950 at least officialy) all servers have OMSA on them.

My english isn't perfect, but I hope you get what I'm trying to say.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to Dell.

Dell MP supports 2 modes for Monitoring : Scalable and Detailed. Seems like you are in Scalable Mode.

The Detailed inventory of Server components are displayed only in Detailed Mode and hence would suggest you try switching the mode from Scalable to Detailed.

[Refer User Guide @ : https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/us/en/04/server-management-pack-suite-v7.0/servermpv7.0ugpubs/overview-of-dell-emc-server-management-pack-suite?guid=guid-651a73b3-427a-4b18-a542-48115b8bc46a&lang=en-us]

Below is the information on feature support for Detailed and Scalable Mode.

Scalable : Inventory and health monitoring at server and component group level.

Detailed : Detailed inventory and monitoring of the following components: memory, processors, sensors, network interfaces, storage controllers, disks, and volumes. BIOS information is also shown.

Let us know if this helps

I'm pretty new to SCOM. Can you tell me how can I switch mode to detailed? I tried to google it and was reading through documents on Dell website, but can't find anything.

Update:

Ok, I googled again and now became even more confused. Do I need to configure License Manager to use Detailed mode? Do I need to buy license for using this feature?

Hi,

Managing Dell server using OMSA is at zero cost

Quick steps

- In SCOM console, Monitoring tab : Expand Monitoring ->Dell and select "Feature Management Dashboard"

- select "Server and Rack Workstation Monitoring" and in Tasks tab click "Import Detailed Feature" under "Dell Monitoring Feature Tasks"

Details refer page 91, Table 33, "Server and Rack Workstation Monitoring" in https://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/server-management-pack-suite-v7.0_users-guide_en-us.pdf
