1703FPt, connection usage?
I have this old Dell Monitor that I haven't used in years. But it seems to still work. I would like to use it with my laptop. I have the power cable plugged in. I don't recall if I need those old plugs with all the prongs or not. This plug in my hand is the only one I could find. It is sort of square, but rounded on top. The other end is a USB. I tried plugging this into the monitor on the one end and my laptop on the other, but nothing changed. Can anyone advise next steps?

Beside the power connection, you will need to connect either the blue connector (VGA) or the white connector (DVI) to your PC, laptop for video signals, an adapter may be needed if PC or laptop does not have those connectors.
The USB connector from your hand is belonging to an upstream cable. Connecting that cable from the monitor to an USB port on PC or laptop will enable other USB ports on the monitor be connected to the PC or laptop. They will then support connection for mouse, keyboard, camera, etc...
