1704 fpt Screen Resolution.

I have a 1704 17" Monitor for which the native resolution is 1280 x 1024. When i first set it up after recieving it from dell  the screen was set to display at 1024 x 768 . I have tried it at both settings and find it hard to see any differences in the screen display quality but prefare the larger desktop icons { eyesight not as good as it was ! } on the 1024 x 768 setting. Has anyone found that theirs was shiped at the lower res and if so have they changed it or left it as it was ???
Any comments would be helpfull thanks.

http://news.designtechnica.com/print_featured_article6.html    Monitor resolution information you might to read.

LCD's run at its best using the native resolution, and anything else will give you less tha a good viewing experience.  You can enlarge the fonds if you are having problems are shown below.

Display Properties Section :

Need of larger Fonts :

Go into Display Properties by right clicking on the desktop, click Properties in this next small box you see on the desktop

1. Click on Appearance  at the top of this next box ( Display Properties Box )
2. Click on the Font Size in the next window in the Appearance area, and select what size fonts you want. You can change back again if you don't like it...

You can also go to Settings in Display Properties and click on Advanced. Here you will be able to change the DPI setting from 96 DPI to 120 DPI that will also enlarge the fonts

i have the dell 1704 as well.....ever since i installed windows vista, i can no longer go into the native res os 1280*1024 windows will no longer let me choose anything higher than 1024*768. i USED TO absolutly LOVE this monitor mainly for its abilt to produce the res i can no longer attain. i loved the extra desktop space. everything now seems so clustered and crammed on my screen (esp with vista/ sidebar) is there any way i can force higher res? after all isnt it the NATIVE resolution that is no longer my option? is there any 3rd party drivers or software i can use/try to re-attain my previous res.?

Hey,

I just installed vista and it won't recognise my 1704.  It uses the Gerec VGA Monitor setting.  I have tried to reinstall drivers, update drivers and it still won't work.  Have any tips on how to get the darn thing to work with Vista??
