1704FP USB ports?
Hello, I have a Dell Monitor model# 1704FPT that I purchased at an estate sale. Unfortunately there wasn't any manual or other documentation. It works great and for 5 dollars, I think I did alright! Curious though as to why there are four USB ports, two on the side and two on rear? Not tech savvy, just curious! The two audio outs work and the amped front speakers do as well. I tried going thru support first to obtain a manual, but kept going round and round even tried to have Dell scan my system for info they required,not my day for that. So any help on the USB's would be really appreciated! I believe this was mfgd. in 2005 , two models same year, mine1704FPT and the other 1704FTV, so if updated drivers are needed I'll try again with download support. Bill Kinder,
For the monitor USB downstream to function, you must connect the USB upstream cable from the monitor to a USB port on the computer.

Hi Chris thanks for replying to my post. I failed to mention that the computer that said monitor is connected to is hp! And with no owners manual for the Dell monitor, I'm not familiar with the term as its used, "upstream cable" or what this function is used for. I'm working on getting instructions, pdf or other ! If you have a brief explanation on that (I don't want to take up your time) that would be great. Thanks again.

* Go to page 3 Bottom View, #5. That is the USB Upstream port
* You have to purchase a USB Upstream cable at a local store. It looks like this
