1901FP - Images contain blue pixels

Question

Hello-

I have had my 1901FP for several months now and up until today its been flawless.

I noticed that in my digital pics, windows buttons, and almost any image on the internet I see extra 'blue pixels'. Sorry, I dont know how else to explain it but in pictures that once had white clouds, now there are white clouds with blue pixels.

I thought it was the graphics card but I connected another PC to the monitor and the results were the same.

I reset all the factory defaults for the monitor and still, same blue pixels.

I dont know what else to try. Any ideas? or do I have a defective monitor on my hands.

Sorry, I should have been more specific.  Its not one specific pixel.  It can be anywhere on the screen. Its more the color in the image goes from white to blue.

I wouldnt say reversible as much as movable.

For example, I have the problem in my IE window. There are images that have 'blue patches' (pixels was a bad word). If I were to minimize my IE window so that it was smaller than full size, I can move that window around the screen and the image would still have the blue patches. (Hope I explained that well.)

The blue patches problem also happens on mouseovers and on buttons.

so it is reversible? white to blue and still can back to white?

I think I narrowed things down a bit. I appears that one shade of grey does not get recognized.

Using my LCD, there is a long blue line in the top greyscale image and there is a block of blue in the bottom greyscale image grid (toward the bottom left in my case).

Anyone seen this happen to a LCD before? Am I correct to assume that its the LCD?

Just trying to cover all my bases before I call in for warranty service.

2 possibilities, your graphic card or LCD. hook up another monitor to try, if it is ok, your LCD is defective.

Thanks. I did just that. I still had my old CRT monitor so I connected that to my pc and I did NOT have the same problem.

I guess that means its my LCD.

On another note, I changed my colors from 32bit to 16bit and the 'blue patching' went away. Not sure what that means yet...

Just to close this thread out.....

I called Tech Support. They had me go through a few other checks and I still had the blue patches. They sent me a new 1901FP in two days. The new monitor did not have the same problem. I am good to go.

Despite all the negative reviews I have read, I received very good customer support on this problem I encountered. I am very satisfied with the help I received and the quickness of the solution. Thanks Dell.
