1905fp Questions...refresh and brightness..

I just received my new Dell 1905fp monitor and connected it to my 5 year old XPS T650 w/32mb GeForce vid card without loading the cd which came with the monitor and I have to say the picture is outstanding and I'm sure the picture is going to get even better with the new PC and DVI connection..  The reason I didn't load the cd is I expect my new Dell Dim. 8400 w/128MB PCI Express™ x16 (DVI/VGA/TV-out) ATI Radeon™ X300 SE to arrive tomorrow or friday so I don't see the point in loading it on this pc since I am selling it to a friend of mine along with my old P991 monitor. My questions are, at the moment the hightest refresh rate allowed is 75 Hertz-will the new 8400 allow for a higher refresh rate, my tired old eyes seem to get sore after a while with refresh rates below 85 Hertz.  Also the brightness is set at 100% from the factory and when accessing the brightness control on the monitor when I turn down the brightness nothing happens, the gauge will go down to 0 but the the picture never gets dimmer, the contrast changes when I choose it and the other features in the menu work fine but the brightness will not.. Am I missing something??

LCD's are very different than CRT's that require a higher refresh rate in order not to have eye strain. Leave the LCD that you have at 60 Hz, and you will be just fine. CRT's have to be refreshed and the LCD's do not, they are always on. Also, leave the LCD's resolution at 1280x1024, which is the native resolution and using anything else will give you less than a good viewing experience. My LCD, for your information is set at 60 hz, so don't give this another thought, you will be just fine. Don't forget to turn of the ClearType setting as well.

For some reason any sort of motion looks weird on my monitor. Everything from 3D to just quicktime almost has a small ghosting effect. I don't know if it is the LCD or the videocard. I am going to try another monitor to see if it is that, have you heard about this before?
