2005FPW started having funny color banding
Picture of the issue: http://aycu08.webshots.com/image/49087/2003441937189096391_rs.jpg
The picture shows the monitor displaying a uniform gray screen. Some weird bands show up, especially at the top right and bottom middle of the screen. The bands do not move and are visible when displaying any page, but I picked the gray for easy photographing.
Monitor PPID: MX-0T6130-48323-56T-1WJL
Date of purchase: 7/24/2005 (standalone 3-year warranty)
Troubleshooting attempted:
- Moved monitor to different computer.
- Tried new DVI cable.
Is this something I am going to need to get replaced under warranty, or are there any more troubleshooting steps I can try?

As far as I know the cause can be temperature, humidity or both.
@gpro, you're the first person I saw mentioning that delamination stuff. I must know more about it :)

Somnio,
I did a little searching to try to find some answers to this discoloration issue. I suspect that it may be a sign of delamination, possibly of the polarizer film. My understanding is that this can be caused by 'temperature, humidity or both'. I'm drawing my own conclusions at this point, which is why I said 'I think' in the previous post. I guess the discoloration could just be internal condensation. If it goes away then this might be the likely explanation.

I have this same fault.
The Date of Mfg: FEBRUARY 2006
REV:A03
Assembled in Mexico,
and under the barcode is this serial:
MX-OT6130-48323-621-3D3LIt has to be in warranty, with that date of manufacture.
Can a Dell representative check on the serial as to whether I am covered.
Thank you
Edit 22 May 08: Had great response from Dell by phone from London UK, they picked up the 2005FPW and delivered a replacement 2009W the next day. Sadly the 2009W had such terrible colour quality and viewing angle colour distortion was so dramatic, that i had to ask for something else, again the day after they picked up and delivered a 2007WFP which is of high colour quality and accuracy, and unlike the 2009W, it has the composite and svideo in ports like the original 2005FPW. Thanks Dell, surprisingly nice people and service.
