2007 firmware fix affect text blur/flicker?

Have seen several ask this, but no official response (at least that I have seen)

Yeah, the question was asked elsewhere but not addressed, likely because the thread was really about the firmare fix in relation to the banding issue

I have asked this question elsewhere, but this seems like a better venue.  Will disabling the Faroudja processor in desktop mode correct the blurry text issue?   Or is the blurry text a bi-product of the anti-glare coating?

I use a 2001FP for work, and the difference in text clarity between this and the 2007WFP is very noticeable to me.

The blurry text on my 2007fp was clearly an electronics defect. Not a coating issue. I too want to know if they resolved this? I guess not enough people complained about blurry text for them to bother having a look. We will have to way for some people who had the blurry text issue to get updated firmware and see how that goes.

The screen Flicker is what affects my 2007WFP the most. I'd like to see that addressed.

I get mild flicker during mode change, but otherwise none. No text blurring either, and that is one thing I am overly sensitive too as so many LCDs have blurry text issues.

The text clarity is better on the 2005 than the 2007, another reason why I switched back.

Did you get your low mic vol problem fixed and if so, how?

Wow, you remember that? Well, a newer version Skype came out shortly after I posted about that last year, and it seemed to have solved that problem. I haven't really used the mic for anything other than Skype, so otherwise i don't know

Can't forget because I've been through a wringer and still feeling it with other issues unrelated to the mic issue. The low mic vol issue was/is not only with Skype. There are still reports on the mic problem in the audio group.

(Chris-M helped out a few with Audigy soundcard a while back. That's the only case I know anybody got help with the low mic vol problem.)

I'll have to throw my hat in the ring here too, the TEXT BLUR issue is far more of a problem for me than is the banding issue. So, chalk me up for "needs blurry text fix" as well. I guess the bottom line is this: if the firmware fixes it, then BAM i'm good to go. If not, then these dogs are getting eBayed so fast my head is gonna spin.

Also, I'm unaware of any flickering problems so far (knock on wood). Is this the same problem that I've been describing as the "crystalline" effect when viewing light colored backgrounds (as related to the screen coating?), or is this an entirely different problem?

This is what I got back from Chris-M about the fuzzy text:

"Is this firmware fixes both color banding and fuzzy text on the 2007FP?
* No. Although I didn't see fuzzy text on any of the flashed monitors."

I can't say much in regard to this, since my 2007FPW has not exhibited any text blur, but I will say that for the few months I have been around here Chris-M has been a straight shooter. I'll trust what Chris says on the matter, he/she always seems to balance out our interest and Dell's pretty fairly.

That is unfortunate. I believe the blur is on all the panels. It was widely reported on the 2407 (bigger pixels make it easier to see) and a handfull noticed it on the 2007. The same people who got 2007 replacements (before the fix) indicated the replacement had the problem. Problem here is that you need sharp eyes and need to know what a proper DVI connection should look like:

Here is the screen shot of my 2007fp vs my 2405fpw each connected via DVI.

Someone else tracking the blur, note the rainbows on the 2407:

Very hard to capture, but there is a one pixel shadow on the 2007fp also most pictures of the screen rainbowed which indicated the pixels are jittering, this did not happen on the 2405. I was hoping the jitter/blur was also from the Video processing elements that have been turned off. Looks like a wait before the panel gets into the hands of sharp eyed users.

Too bad Dell does't hire sharp eyed QA and repair workers to prevent this from getting out the door in the first place.

I guess the reason for the banding was some chip that is used for scaling low res images was always enabled. This scaling filter is something that would definetly cause text blur so I'm hoping it is also fixed.

I contacted Dell Canada, and once past the first level of tech support, the second guy knew about the issues of banding and text blur.  However, he did not know if there was a fix other than the post from ChrisM on this forum - i.e. he had nothing official listed from Dell engineers.  I returned the monitor for refund and picked up a ViewSonic.
