2007 WFP resolution compatability with Radeon 9600 Pro; PLEASE HELP!

Hello all,

I am trying to decide between the Dell 2007WFP and the Viewsonic VX2025WM and I have read about video card compatability for recommended resolutions.  I found some info about our video card but I really don't know how to decipher it.  This intended lcd is a gift for my husband who is a gamer but not extremely fast paced stuff.  He plays Elderscrolls, Laura Croft, Star Wars, Age of Empires that sort of stuff.  OIther than that, the PC is used for general use, email and web surfing- no intensive graphics.  We will be updating the entire system in about 6 months including a better video card but we need the new monitor within a month.

I would greatly appreciate suggestions and help with the recommended resolution question and any general comments about my lcd selections.

Thanks so much!
Lizzie

I would imagine you should be fine with your Radeon 9600 Pro. LCD (flat panel) monitors all have "native" resolutions that they were designed to run and look bast at. The native resolution of the 2007WFP widescreen is 1680x1050 pixels while the 2007FP standard monitor is 1600x1200 pixels. If you look at the link you included with your post you can see that the video card supports 1600x1200. 1680x1050 is not listed, although I am 99% sure your Radeon 9600 Pro supports 1680x1050. I was facing the same dilemma and actually bought a Radeon 9600XT because I knew it would support 1680x1050. So in conclusion, I would not worry. Your video card should support either monitor.

Just wondering but would an Inspiron 8200 with a geforce 4 440 go be able to run the 2407 at full resolution for desktop usage?  Thanks.
