2007wfp broken, new power supply needed

Does anyone know where I could get a new power supply for my 2007wfp monitor and how much I would have to spend?

I've tried to talk to Dell but it doesn't have a service tag on it and I can't get onyone to talk to me without one.  I bought it on ebay and the seller claimed it had the warranty but because he bought it with a computer system it didn't have a service tag and thus, no warranty.  I'm an electrical engineer so I can fix it myself but I need a new power supply.

natsibley,

All PCs should have a service tag number? We do not have monitor parts. We exchange them as a whole unit.

My Dell PC does have a service tag, but its warranty expired a long time ago.  The monitor that I bought separately doesn't have a service tag.  What happens to the broken monitors that are returned?  I doubt it's possible, but is there any chance I could get my hands on one of those.  I could salvage the part(s) I need myself.

Those monitors are returned to the manufacturer. We do not have them.

I'm pretty irritated. I have a monitor (2007fp) I purchased with one of my Dell computers a few years back and after having it stored for a few years, I went to set it up and discovered I'm missing the power cord. It's not a common power cord like the other monitors I've purchased through Dell. No big deal, I thought. I'll call up Dell and purchase another cord. Come to find out, I can't buy only the power cord, period. I was told I'd need to buy the whole unit!

It's been a while but in the past, we purchased maybe 15 (upper end) computers and a few servers through Dell. Not many I suppose, but enough that we're not just fly by night customer. We're ready to begin replacing our old and out dated units now. I'll have to tell you though, the fact that I can't even get replacement parts for a unit Dell is still selling today doesn't leave me with warm fuzzy feelings. We need to be able to rely on the companies we purchase from and this issue alone tells me that regardless of past purchases, Dell isn't that company.

ttunoa,

That is odd that it was not in the box. What cabling was present? Was it purchased from us as New or Refurbished?

No, I misplaced the cord while storing this particular unit. Thing is it shouldn't have been a big deal to buy another one through Dell. It's a Dell product. It has Dell's name all over it. To tell me the only way to get another cord is to buy the whole unit is crazy. Part of the reason we chose buying Dell's upper end computers is so we could upgrade with ease, holds better value over the long haul for us that way.  But if I can't even replace simple parts (like a power cord), the over all product loses quite a bit of value to me. As it stands, I managed to locate the power cord through Amazon (relatively cheaply) but I shouldn't have had to do that. Dell should have parts to their products they have manufactured for them.
