2007WFP won't do 1280x1024

Question

I have a new machine running XP with a Radeon X1300 to a 2007WFP via the DVI-D.  I am using 1680x1050 for normal operation just fine (actually very nice) but when I installed AOE Conquerors and tried to run in 1280x1024 I got a totally white screen.  I alt-tab out and everything is fine when it is minimized so I tried changing the resolution in the game to 1024x768 and it works NP.  Next I tried running the system in 1280x1024 in the XP environment and no dice (same as the game)!  I checked my driver (ATI, 8.321.0.0 11/21/2006) and tried the latest MS driver (an older one, I think 6/06) and still had the same issue with a white screen in that 1280 res. Any advice would be appreciated.

According to the online User's manual of the 2007WFP

1280x1024 is a supported resolution. See the sentence above the Preset Display Modes section:

"Dell guarantees image size and centering for all preset modes listed in the following table"

So it should work.

Looking at the table, we can see that the 1280x1024 vertical frequency can be 60 Hz or 75 HZ. Your monitor is probably set at 60 Hz. Have you tried 75 Hz?
