2405FPW: Can not display this mode

Sounds like you're using the VGA cable instead of DVI. Does your video card have DVI? If so, I would use that instead.

No, that's not the problem. As I said in my post, things do appear, like the boot messages when I start the PC up and the screen saver appears as well if I leave the machine inactive for a few minutes.

BTW, my video card doesn't have DVI.

When you first connected your new 24inch Dell, what was the desktop resolution set to before switching? It's possible whatever it was at the monitor doesn't support? Like if the refresh rate was way above 60hz. On an LCD make sure it's 60hz.

Reconnect you old monitor that works and try lowering your desktop to 800*600 at 60hz. If you don't have an older screen anymore try starting up in safe mode by hitting F8 over and over during boot until you get the prompt. Then it should be low res at the desktop. Reinstall the video card drivers so that when you start up again in normal mode you'll be at a lower resolution by default. Then when you try different resolutions and you get the blank screen you can wait the 15 seconds for it to revert back to what it was at.

Also, make sure under the monitor tab in advance display settings that it shows something like 2405fpw Analog instead of standard of plug-n-play monitor.

I don't see any leakage on mine.

It's definitely a great monitor, and I got the $119 discount :-) the first day.
