2407 A03 Backlight Failing

Question

After getting a new A03 to replace my A02 which suffered from banding, the new monitor seems to have developed intermittent backlight failure. Twice today, the display shut off although the power light was still green. When I turned it off and back on, the display returned -- the first time only for a couple of minutes. Since then, it's flickered briefly. I've only had the A03 for two weeks, but I have a strong feeling that this one will be going back to Dell. I don't know whether they'll give me a new one or a refurb.

I thought I recall someone else recently posting about a similar backlight problem, but I don't recall which monitor they had.

The other messages you read would also pertain to yours at least 19' - 24' rev. does not matter. If you are worried about refurbs. then there are other posts about this. This would not as such be a backlight failure as the thing came back on. Bad backlight it wouldn't. A possibility of a failing interior power supply is a likely suspect along with the monitors sleep mode nor working properly. Check it out a bit more & ask for another exchange. cheers

As an experiment, I've turned off power management for the monitor. I previously set it in Windows to shut down after one hour of inactivity. So far, the monitor has been working fine, but I don't know if it's related to disabling power management. It worked for two weeks with power management enabled, so I'm not convinced it's related.

Yes, if this did help then it would seem that turning on windows power saving exasperbates the problem so all you would be doing is bypassing it. Possibility of a powersupply &/or circuit board problem. btw. There are quite a few posts on this forum asking about very similar happenings. cheers   btw. Did the unit seem brand new on arrival or did it have such things as fingerprints, marked buttons to indicate that it may be a refurbished panel?

This was a brand new replacement. Recent manufacture date, arrived in good condition, no fingerprints, A03 sticker not covering an old A02 sticker. This monitor actually runs cooler than the A02, which was very hot. So I assumed that this would be good for the components inside. I don't think that it's the power supply, but who knows? I have a suspicion that the monitor is misinterpreting a signal from the computer for power save mode. But when the display went off, the power light remained green and not yellow. So this is inconsistent with my theory. I had a Dell 1704 monitor that ran fine with the same computer for almost two years.
