2407FPW Question to Chris (Moderator)

As of July 5, will this monitor be good to go? banding fixed in all modes?

Thanx so much,
Brandon

Great!  Except I ordered mine Monday and it is to be here tomorrow....so I can plan on a return then huh?  Dang I wish I saw this forum before I ordered.

I am new here, but it is pretty apparent Chris is the king of Dell Monitors...nice work in a tough environment Chris, I am impressed with what I have seen so far.

Chris:

Is this going to be a new revision? (A03?)

I've asked the same question before, and then I realized they're just running a business and no businessman in their right mind would want to turn away customers for any reason. But they are offering to take back the faulty one in exchange for a brand new fixed monitor free of charge. It seems pretty fair to me (if I try and forget all the time wasted...).

Wow, Guess I should have checked out the forums before I placed my 2407 order last night. It shipped out today.

Im not sure I understand the situation though. Are you telling Dell is knowingly continuing to ship defective monitors? I thought they halted shipments and flashed all of the firmware weeks ago. Why would they continue shipping monitors that they know they will have to replace? I just spent a lot of money of have a defective item show up at my doorstep. Not cool Dell. Not cool at all.

Hmmm, in my previous thread ChrisM said that there were no plans for an A03 revision...

So maybe this is A04? :P

No, it will be A02, it's just when you can be guaranteed of getting an A02 from a new order instead of from doing the exchange.

But, I thought with the A02, color banding was only fixed in Desktop mode. So, does this mean color banding is also fixed in multimedia/games modes on A02? ChrisM said in response to MORLOCK20006 that he was "correct". Perhaps this was a misunderstanding (or perhaps I misunderstand)?

plus, even in desktop I see lots of banding in vertical gradients using DVI (none using RGB), with the new Mexico A02 2407.

maybe LCD are just like that, but then why do I see DVI photos from 2405 that don't show it and why is the banding gone in RGB hookup??

There should definitely be a difference between the modes, if you are looking at color gradients and using the DVI input (NOT the VGA). If you sort the message list by latest posting, there's a number of other threads on the topic.

Ok, I don't understand..I just got the A02 yesterday...is it ok...or do I need to ship it back...I am on desktop mode and it appears the same as my 2005.... Please what are we do to?  Should I try the other modes?

Stupid question, how do I know what mode I am in.  Yes, I know how to use the menue and I highlighted gaming mode but for the life of me I see no difference....between that and desktop...is there something that I should different in the two modes?

So any A02's we receive today are good?  2407 WFP.  I always heard that Dell monitors were top of the line....am I mistaken?
