2407WFP vertical purple line
I absolutely love this monitor - it's one of my favorite purchases ever, however... Today a purple line appeared that goes from the top to the bottom of the screen and doesn't seem to go away if I power cycle the monitor. What do I do to fix this?
On a side note, I have been attempting to contact technical support for the past two hours, but I can't find a "Service Tag" on this thing. The web page describes, "Your Service Tag is a unique five- to seven- digit alphanumeric (letter and number) code, which is found on a white bar-coded label affixed to your Dell computer or peripheral." which doesn't appear to be true. There is also a "The table below provides quick reference information for locating your Service Tag" but there is nothing that says 'monitor' or 'display'.

* Click Start- Turn Off Computer- Restart
* At the blue Dell, tap F8 to bring up the Windows boot menu
* Scroll to and select Safe Mode, press the Enter key
* Select the first or only operating system, press the Enter key
Does the issue appear in safemode?
* Turn off the monitor
* Unplug the monitor video cable (either the VGA or DVI) from the back of the computer. They should never be connected at the same time to the same video card
* Turn on the monitor
* The floating dialog box should appear on-screen (against a black background) Does the issue also appear during the monitor Self Test?
If the monitor issue is present in safemode and the Self Test, get it replaced if still under warranty. If you only have an Order number associated with the monitor, you must call in (1-800-624-9896). They will need the following information -
Monitor 20 digit PPID number
Name, address, phone, email address
Order number
Issue
Troubleshooting done
