AE515M Soundbar, Mic issue
Hi all,
Can someone please suggest any solution to the following issue:
The AE515M soundbar Mic is not working. The setup is as follows:
1. Dell monitor (w/ Audio-out, USB and DP ports).
2. Dell AE515M soundbar connected to Dell monitor via USB cable
3. Soundbar's audio-in connected to monitor's audio-out port.
The soundbar speakers sounds just fine, however the mic is not working and is constantly marked in red color.
Neither any new mic devices detected in Windows devmgmt list.
Any thoughts on this matter is greatly appreciated.

See page 10 in the AE515M User's Guide. You are not using that specific cable setup, but it does mention the mic being red. So I am wondering if this has to do with your operating system and somehow changing the audio settings to choose the default mic device as the AE515M?

I doubt it's OS issue. Thought maybe this is a DP cable issue (maybe it doesn't support two-way audio), since the AE515M mic device never appeared in the devmgmt list. So I decided to connect my AE515M directly to PC via usb just to install drivers. Done that, mic instantly appeared, drivers installed, works just fine. Switched back to initial scheme (PC->DP cable->Monitor->3.5mm_cable->AE515M), but still red light, AE515m mic couldn't be set from the mixer (just disappeared).
DP cable is DELL brand new (came w/monitor).

See page 9 in the AE515M User's Guide. It appears that the UP2414Q USB upstream cable also has to be connected from the UP2414Q USB upstream port to a USB port on the Optiplex 7070 =
Optiplex 7070 DP out port --> UP2414Q DP to mDP cable --> UP2414Q mDP in port
-or-
Optiplex 7070 DP out port --> retail DP to DP cable --> UP2414Q DP in port
Optiplex 7070 USB port --> UP2414Q USB upstream cable --> UP2414Q USB upstream port
AE515M cable --> UP2414Q USB downstream port
