AW2518HF, AMD RX 470, 240 Hz, Random black screens

I've had my AW2518HF for 2 months now, and a month a go noticed that I would sometimes experiences link loss.
Basically what happens is the screen goes black for 2-3 seconds, and then returns. There are no messages displayed on the screen, all backgrounds applications/games continue running normally while this is happening. Additionally, GPUZ has recorded nothing fishy on the GPU or PSU side of things. There are no events or issues in any windows logs, including the event viewer. Everything is running fine during these mini blackouts.

I originally thought it might be an issue with some new GPU drivers I was using, so I reverted back to box drivers and hadn't seen the issue since. I had thought the issue solved, until I experienced it again today. It's been about 3-4 weeks since I've seen it last, though there is a chance that it was still happening but I was just not in front of the screen.

They seem to happen very randomly, sometimes spaced days apart as I'm finding. They don't appear to be related to heavy load, as I've had it happen even with just a word processor open. Any help would be amazing!

Does the issue ever happen when testing at the lower Hz (144/120/60) ?

I have not tried lower HZ settings. I suppose I could try 144HZ for now, but the issue is so random and I have no way of reproducing it so it could be a long while before I know or not. Even if I don't notice the effects, there would be no way for me to guarantee that it isn't happening when I'm not around. (i.e my last 3 week stint where I thought the issue was resolved)

If it were the 240HZ, what options would I have then? I spent all this money FOR the 240HZ, not using it is not an option.

Would potentially switching to Display Port solve an issue like this?

It is worth testing using DP. But as you said, very intermittent. Read through the Alienware AW2518HF Trouble Shooting Guide. There is a section on, "Firmware Update". But I do not see the actual firmware AW2518HF Firmware Updater here? Hopefully another AW2518HF owner can chime in and state if they ever obtained the file. If no one actually has the file, perhaps the notation was put in for future use.
