Bad news: ghosting problems on 2407 A02

You are correct, there are Severe ghosting problems with the 2407 A02. I was about to request a return of mine for the same reasons.

But there is an answer! I am completely unsure of why this works so far, there Has to be something else going on here besides the backlight brightness (hopefully something that another firmware revision can fix).

Lower the display brightness. There is an Exact point below which the ghosting does not happen AT ALL. Also, its not just the fact that the monitor becomes too dim to show the ghosting. Once you find the point where this occurs on the brightness settings you will be able to see what a difference One single step up and down makes.

The highest 'good' brightness for me appears to be the first click into level 28. At this setting the screen works perfectly. No trails, no blurring. Step the brightness up by one single click and terrible ghosting appears.

The sad part about this is I'll never be able to have my screen Quite as bright as I want it...

Unless Dell looks into this, releases an A03 firmware that fixes the issue, and then we send our screens back to them again! Joy.

Anyway, take a look at the brightness levels, see if this works for you as well. Thankfully, the screen is bright enough in general that stepping down to 28ish isn't too shabby.

Well, I just looked into it a little more, and the ghosting appears to be a physical panel type of thing. I assumed it would not make any difference to increase video card brightness settings because the actual brightness of 100% white isn't increased, and that was the case. Regardless of what video card settings I changed, it was always fine.

The unfortunate part I found was testing this in reverse. I increased the display brightness to the point where ghosing was severe, and then reduced brightness via the video card. In the exact same fashion, once past a certain point, the ghosting vanished completely. This seems to indicate that these panels just don't visually perform very well when allowing a lot of light through.

A bit sad, but this display is still light years beyond the old samsung it is replacing (which I didn't realize until I tried to go back) so its at about the 'good-enough' point as far as I'm concerned.

Ive just turned the brightness up to 100% on my 2407 A01 and there is no ghosting. I'm using the DVI connection.

I tried to reproduce your ghosting, and wasn't able to get the same result.
Even when moving elements really fast. The only ghosting I'm experiencing is the due to the regular Response Time delay.
You migth just have a defective A02! Good luck!
