Lange233,

Your saying you have had three 2001FP monitors which all have the same vertical bar on multiple PCs testing both VGA and DVI? Does the bar appear during the monitor selftest?

* Turn off both your computer and the monitor
* Unplug all monitor cables from the back of the computer
* Make sure the monitor is plugged directly into the wall socket to remove any surge protectors or APCs from the troubleshooting equation
* Turn on the monitor
* Do you see the floating white/red/green/blue self-test image without the bar?

I forgot to mention that the problem is peridical. Sometimes it happens all the time. Sometimes the monitor can work for a couple of hours before it starts.

The thing that makes it even more weird is that when the vertical bar is there, I remove the VGA cable and the monitor goes to Self-test. The bar is still there during Self-test but after maybe 5 minutes the bar disappears form the Self-test.

If I do a self-test after turning off computer and monitor and unplugging all cables, it performs the self-test allright.

See if it does it using the S-Video input when hooked up to a television receiver. My 2001FP would get a rainbow flicker around the middle of the screen but I found out it was not my video card but the monitor when it still did it using the S-Video input. It was replaced with a 2007FP which has been working good. For three monitors to do that I am most likely sure that it is your video card that is going and not the monitor.

Its just strange that the problem persist when I connect the monitor to my Dell laptop as well.

I'm having the same problem.  I did the self test check and the screen was black like it's supposed to be, but nothing displayed in that portion of the screen.  If my warranty is expired, there's nothing I can do?  Is there any way to fix it?
