Black screen when on 3007WFP

Hey Guys,
Recently for some strange reason my new 30" Dell (3007WFP) just has a black screen when I turn it on. I know its getting power because the power led is lit. When I turn my computer on the screen doesn't light up at all.

I don't even see the "No Signal" box that comes up when there is no connection between the monitor and the computer (I was trying to isolate the problem so when everything was connected I disconnected the dual-DVI cable).

Whats even stranger is that when I remove the dual-DVI cable, with the screen on, the screen lights up and its starts displaying a series of colours that fill the whole screen. If I remember correctly, first the whole screen turns a bright white -> blue -> red -> green -> white. This just keeps repeating till I turn the monitor off.

Is my monitor broken? This is really frustrating because I didn't do anything do damage it. Just one day it decided not to work. I hope Dell make sure their goods go through quality control because this is terrible.

Maqqie_Eddie,

* Disconnect all cables to and from the 3007
* Wait 30 seconds
* Reconnect only the power cord to the 3007
* Power the 3007 on. What do you see?

I see the same thing, the screen cycles through a series of colours. I am not sure the exact order but the whole screen will turn white, black, green, red, blue and keep repeating. Is this a signal that something is wrong?

Touch - or + to activate the on-screen display (OSD). What do you see?

Those buttons are non-responsive. No OSD comes up at all.

the OSD comes up only when you have a DELL PC hooked up to the monitor I believe...

Also you know only one of the two DVI plugs on the back of your video car is DVI dual link, so make sure you have your monitor plugged in to that one. (incase that got mixed up when you unplugged it last time).

how do you know which one is Dual DVI? From the look of the two DVI ports, both are Dual DVI. If it helps I am using a 7950GX2.

Maqqie_Eddie,

The DVI in the middle is the primary.

hah, turns out it was a simple mistake on my part. I connected the monitor to the wrong DVI port. At least I don't have to call Dell up and complain, etc. ^_^

Thanks DELL-ChrisM and _666_ you've made this Dell customer very happy once again.

Regards,
