Bright red vertical line
I have a bright red vertical line extending just over half way up the right side of my display. It is always there unless I shut down the monitor.
Does anyone have any experience with this sort of condition? I feel I should try to fix it myself, if that's practical, before invoking the maintenance agreement.

Mosmac,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
What monitor do you have that is having this issue?

My monitor has the same problem, it's about 1/3 of the screen size in from the left. I don't know what monitor I have, though, just the one that came with my computer and I haven't read any specifics on monitor type, but looking at the Dell monitors for sale, it looks to be an E152FP. Really annoying.

TacticalLE,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
Here are some things to try and resolve the issue with the monitor.
If these steps do not resolve the issue with the monitor you may want to try removing and reinstalling the video card drivers back into the system. If you need information on installing video card drivers you can view the FAQ in the Dimension Video Conference Forum.

My 1702FP monitor has the very same problem (single vertical line). It is an intermittant problem. There are no loose cables, and monitor test may or may not be a viable troubleshooting tool, as it is an intermittant problem.
It appears to be a hardware problem with the monitor - as a very light tap to the top of the monitor will cause the red line to go away. Will Dell please share with us the common failures they have seen with these monitors? Is there a specific component that has shown a failure trend causing these red-lines?
