C2422HE, USB Type-C to C cable

@DELL-Chris M ,

Referring to USB Type-C monitors FAQ, 2R4CW (1m) should be compatible with C2422HE though C2422HE is shipped with FF1M3 (1.8m)? Is there any Dell cable in this category which is 0.6m and above but not more than 1m?

I got the PRN0F, it works perfectly with OptiPlex 7090 Ultra and C2422HE. The length (0.6m) is just nice as compared to FF1M3 (1.8m). PRN0F is thinner than FF1M3.

We can only go by what the Dell SPMD (Spare Parts Master Database) shows for the C2422HE which is FF1M3.

I do not see any shorter than 1m/3.2ft. You would have to purchase and test 3rd party cables.

@pgckl  According to the C2422HE's User Guide, its USB-C port supports DisplayPort 1.2, USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps), and up to 90W USB PD.  DP 1.2 was the first video standard supported over USB-C.  As for USB data, some USB-C cables only support USB 2.0, but finding cables that support USB 3.x Gen 1 isn't difficult.  And for power, most USB-C cables only support up to 60W.  The next step up for cables is 100W, so you'd need one of those if you wanted to retain 90W support from your display.

So basically you need a USB-C cable that supports:

  • Video output -- no need for a cable that supports DP 1.4, although that wouldn't be a problem
  • USB 3.x Gen 1 (5 Gbps) -- no need for Gen 2 (10 Gbps) support unless you want it for futureproofing
  • USB PD up to 100W

That shouldn't be hard to find.

@DELL-Chris M , there is a Dell 0.6m USB-C to USB-C cable, seems to be with below part numbers, however, I am not sure they are the same, any idea?

470-AEDQ - CUS,CRD,I/O,TYPC2TC,67CM,MONGS

PRN0F - ADPT,CON,DNGL,TC2TC,67CM,MONGS

@jphughan , thanks for the information.

Yes, I see that on the Dell sales site, "Dell USB-C TO USB-C displays cable, 0.6 meter". Notice it states, "This product is compatible with the following systems: OptiPlex 7070 UFF". It states, "Dell USB-C to USB-C lets you view content from your desktop or laptop with USB-C video output and view it on an USB-C-compliant display.". But that is pretty generic sales verbiage and does not list specific Dell monitor models.

@DELL-Chris M , thanks for the information, based on the that, I found this

https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/help-me-choose/cp/hmc-optiplex-ultra-cables-and-adapters

For this cable, could you confirm the part number? 470-AEDQ or PRN0F?

That article does not mention the conference monitors, C2422HE/C2722DE/C3422WE? Why not simply use the USB Type-C cable (C to C) that shipped with the C2422HE?

Dell sales SKU number = 470-AEDQ
Manuafacturer part number = GRC0T
Dell part number = PRN0F for Optiplex 7070 Ultra
